To fully understand and learn Music Theory one must learn how to read music. Even the great artists who never learned music have taken the time to learn it now to improve their playing. Plus it is the easiest and fastest way to get a new song idea written, you know that one you hear in your head.
Our free Music Theory 101 online course will get you started with all the fundamentals of music so you will have a solid Music Theory foundation. While these fundamentals can be applied to any instrument we will focus on music theory for guitar and how these principles are applied on the guitar.

This lesson will cover the parts of the guitar, types of guitars, holding the guitar and tuning the guitar. This lesson is not only aimed to get you ready to play the guitar but includes your first guitar chords. Guitar chords covered will be the open guitar chords in major, seventh guitar chords, and extended guitar chords such as four finger and barre chords.
All though we don’t expect you to be able to play these extended guitar chords right now you will learn them and can begin practicing them. Most of these extended guitar chords take three to six months before you can play them effectively due to the need of building up your hand strength.-
