Guitar Scales 101 Lessons Outline

Prerequisites

To get the most out of our guitar lessons you must be able to play the notes along the fretboard, read music rhythms in either notation or guitat tablature. If your not sure if your ready you can go through our Music Theory lessons and Beginning Guitar 101 Lessons to get the required material down. If you have any questions or are unsure please contact us and we can help make sure you have the training you need to get started. If you can already play open chords and can go through the beginning guitar lessons with ease then you are ready for any of guitar courses.

Requirements

If you have not had any Music Theory education our free Music Theory Course will bring you up to speed. Read through the lessons and practice the rhythm lessons to make sure you are prepared. You can always come back to the rhythm lessons and use them for a reference as well.
 
Guitar Scales 101 lessons will cover the following topics:
 

Lessons 1-4

The first four lessons will cover the following guitar chords:
 
Major, Minor Scales
Church Modes
Minor Pentatonic

Lessons 5-8

The next four lessons will cover the following scales:
 
Minor Pentatonic vs. Blues Scale
Blues Scale
Major Pentatonic

Lessons 9-12

Our last four lesson will cover Advanced Scale Concepts and how to create your own scales. We will then cover several Minor Scales and a couple of Unique Scales that are great for improvising in any style.

         Whole Tone

By the end of the course you will have a solid foundation of all the scales you need for improvising on the guitar, how they are constructed and how to implement them in any key anywhere on the neck.
